The YHT-S400BL works with any HDTVAIR SURROUND XTREME–Real Surround SoundUnlike other “virtual surround” systems, when you listen to Yamaha’s AIR SURROUND XTREME, you can actually identify sounds located around and behind you.
You hear dialogue from a clear center channel and other sounds from the front, specific sounds from the other channels to the sides and rear, and smooth sound movement around you. AIR SURROUND XTREME can even deliver surround sound from 7-channel sources.
HD Audio Compatibility The YHT-S400BL can accept HD Audio signals (linear PCM transmission) from Blu-ray Disc players for enjoying maximum sound quality. Extended StereoAnother new technology featured in the YHT-S400BL, Extended Stereo moves the stereo image further to the sides. With a 31-1/2″ wide unit, it is as if you are listening from speakers that are over 6 feet apart from each other.
This means that the optimum sound field in front of the unit is much wider. UniVolumeThis welcome feature, made possible by Yamaha-developed technology, maintains a consistent volume level between different channels, programs, commercials and input sources.
